Patagonia recently introduced a completely redesigned lineup of its well-loved Stealth fly fishing bags and packs. The new collection stays true to the series' lightweight, minimalist roots, while adding smart new features, improved designs, and a sleek, modern aesthetic. The new bags and packs also double down on the apparel giant's ongoing efforts to reduce its manufacturing footprint, with this latest incarnation of the Stealth Pack lineup features a 100% recycled nylon ripstop outer fabric as well as a 100% recycled polyester lining.
“Stealth packs have evolved to a point where they are essential pieces of on-the-water equipment,” said Matt Millette, Patagonia Fly Fishing’s head of marketing. “It’s a challenge to reimagine the performance of an iconic product, but the team nailed it—all while minimizing our footprint. We could not be happier how they perform on the water. The Stealth Work Station has quickly become a team favorite. The simplicity and utility of this small but mighty pack makes great days better.”
Magnets are featured prominently throughout all the new packs in the lineup, strategically placed on straps and in other easy-to-access locations for quick fly "docking" while changing flies. All four packs also feature integrated water bottle storage, and all but the Work Station pack include a removable, waterproof, zippered pocket for keeping electronics like smartphones and key fobs safe from the elements.
Similarly, the Hip Pack, Sling Pack, and Backpack all offer sleeves for net storage. The new Stealth Sling Pack can also be quickly and easily converted for either right or left shoulder wear.
The affordable, intelligently designed Stealth Work Station is not only a favorite of the team at Patagonia, as Millette notes but—beginning with its previous incarnation—has become a favorite of anglers all across the country. As more anglers begin to embrace a less-is-more attitude on the water, focusing on efficiency and simplicity instead of a kitchen sink approach to angling, smartly built accessories geared specifically towards that style of fishing are becoming increasingly popular.
All four of the new Patagonia Stealth Packs are available immediately through Patagonia.com and Patagonia retailers.
