After a series of announcements, the first of which came in November of 2020, every scheduled stop for the 2021 Fly Fishing Show eventually fell victim to cancellation in one form or another. With the exception of the Denver, Colorado show, which was cancelled due to the last-minute sale and closure of the show's planned venue, all of the 2021 Fly Fishing Show dates were spiked by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. With a full slate of 2022 shows announced in June, anglers and show goers around the country were hopeful this year would mark a return to normal. Once again, however, it appears that the pandemic has other ideas.

Less than two weeks from scheduled dates in Marlborough, Massachusetts, the first event of the 2022 schedule and a longtime annual stop for the tour, Fly Fishing Show CEO Ben Furmisky announced that the show would be postponed from January 21-23 to "better" dates of April 22-24.

Fly fishing product manufacturers, exhibitors, small businesses, speakers, fly tiers, casting instructors, seminar leaders and other participants were nearly unanimous in the decision to move the Marlborough Fly Fishing Show dates from Jan. to April,” said Furimsky.

What this means for the remainder of The Fly Fishing Show's 2022 schedule remains to be seen and will no doubt be driven largely by how long the current spike in coronavirus cases, propelled by the new Omicron variant, persists.

The next stop on the tour, the Fly Fishing Show's January 28-30 dates in Edison, New Jersey, remains on schedule. In a release sent out yesterday, The Fly Fishing Show noted that the Edison show remains "on tap," "with sanitized, refurbished and newly decorated exhibitor space, producers promise more manufacturers and retail store displays of the newest fly rods, reels, lines, boots, waders, clothing and flies plus guide services and lodges during the three day mid-winter run."

With regards to its COVID-19 protocols at all upcoming shows, The Fly Fishing Show noted, "We will follow all national, state and local health protocols related to COVID-19 at the time of the show. We recommend following all CDC guidelines in terms of mask wearing and vaccination. We strongly encourage staff and attendees to stay home if they are sick or have any symptoms of COVID-19, and to get tested for COVID-19."

At this time, the rest of the 2022 Fly Fishing Show schedule remains unchanged.
