Intended to replace Allen's popular XA series of rods, the Volant is an all-new design based on the same do-it-all design philosophy that produced the XA.

According to Allen, the Volant "is built around versatility and durability without sacrificing finesse and presentation. Throughout the lineup, we achieved a medium/fast action rod that achieves presentation, power, and accuracy in perfect balance."

Though the rods are designed to be versatile, Allen has tailored each model in the Volant series towards its most common uses. In other words, the 8' 6" 4 weight is built for smaller trout fisheries, the 7 weight is designed to go steelheading and the 12 weight is constructed to handle big ocean nasties.
